RICE HUSK

Rice husk is the hard outer layer that protects rice grain and it is high in silica. Rice husk is the by product being removed in the milling process. It is widely used for energy generation, soil fertilizer, and as additive in the cement or steel manufacturing due to its high silica content.
BIO AGRI INDO supply rice husk in various forms including loose rice husk, rice husk ask, rice husk pellet, rice husk briquette.

Rice husk is the hard outer cover that protects rice grain, which contains high silica. It is the waste material being removed in the milling process. Rice hull / rice husk contributes 20% of the rice weight, composed of silica (15-20%), cellulose (50%), lignin (25–30%), moisture (10-15%). Bulk density of rice husk is ranging from 90-150kg/m3. In the previous time, rice husk is utilized as an insulator for cold storage, wall and roof in China. Sometimes, it is also used as floor insulator.

Major product of paddy husk/ rice husk is solid fuel in various forms (loose, pellet dan briquette). The loose form of rice husk is commonly used for energy generation like gasification and combustion. For gasification, rice husk is converted to synthesis gas in an air injected reactor. The gas is then utilized into the co generator (produce heat and electricity at the same time)

In combustion, direct burning of the rice husk can be done to generate heat energy without the use of heat exchanger. Combustion process produces rice husk ash as the by product, which is rich in silica content. High silica content in rice husk is beneficial in agricultural sector for soil fertilizer and for additive in cement or steel manufacturing. In the cement manufacturing, the silica content of rice husk is extracted and converted to nanosilica.  It is then included in the cement mixture to improve the properties of cement.

Rice husk pellet and rice husk briquette is widely used as a replacement of fossil fuel in the industrial boiler.

Additionally, carbonizing rice hull to produce carbonized rice husk has become a popular demand. The thermal decomposition method under low temperature and oxygen supply is conducted to make carbonized rice husk.

Carbonized rice husk is used as an organic fertilizer for soil. It helps to improve the soil physical properties, such as water retention and infiltration, aeration, permeability, adjusting the PH degree, increasing temperature. As a result, it provides better environment for plant roots which rises up the crops yield.
